When may potential clients tour the center?

School tours are by appointment only. The center is not open to visitors. But we do schedule after hour tours of the facility and classrooms.

What age children do you serve?

Early Head Start serves 6 weeks – 36 weeks (3 years old), Preschool – 2 years old to 4 years old, First Steps 4K –  4 to 5 years old

What information is needed to enroll a child?

The following information is required for enrollment:

  • immunization record
  • medical statement
  • free & reduced meal forms
  • permission slips
  • child release form
  • first aid & medical authorizations
  • emergency contact information

Do you offer transportation?

No, the PICDC currently does not offer transportation.

May parents visit their child during school hours?

Parents are free to visit their children at any time, keeping in mind the child’s daily schedule. Please note, as extra precaution during this time parents are not allowed in the building.

Is there a registration fee?

There is a non-refundable registration fee payable when the application is picked-up. Registration fee has been waived as we continue to assist parents as we struggle through the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is the latest time that a child can be dropped off for school?

9:30 am is the latest that a child will be accepted for school. Exceptions will be made if the child is late due to a doctor’s appointment, with a valid written excuse, or a family emergency.

Is there financial assistance available for tuition?

Yes. The PICDC supports state and federal programs such as ABC Voucher, AFDC or public assistance recipient, CPS educational institution. Students may also be eligible for scholarships. Please see Tera Marshall for assistance.

What if a parent is late picking up their child?

If a child is not picked up by the prearranged time 2:30pm for First Steps,
3:30pm for Pre-School and 4:00pm for Early Head Start, a late fee will be charged.

How are your weekly fees determined and what are your payment terms?

Fees are based on a sliding scale and are set according to the income information provided by the parents on the enrollment application. Weekly fees are due on the Monday, prior to service. If the fee is not paid by Wednesday, a late fee will be added.

What if a child becomes sick while at school?

If it is determined by the teacher and the administrator that a child is too ill to remain in the center, the child will be separated from the other children, and the parent will be called to pick-up their child immediately.

What happens in the event of inclement or there is an
emergency?

In the event of severe weather or an emergency evacuation of the building, there is an emergency action plan in place, which is clearly posted in every classroom. Parents will be notified of the situation as soon as it is safe to do so.
